Air Pollution Raises Risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest

From the US National institutes of Health. Air Pollution Raises Risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

The New Zealand Standards for particulates allow 50 micrograms of PM10 particulates per cubic metre of air, yet look what the American medical specialists say:

“They found that a rise of 10 micrograms per cubic meter of air in small-particle air pollution was associated with a 4 to 10 percent increase in the number of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

Pollution-related cardiac arrests occurred when particulate levels were high but still below the current EPA safety threshold of 35 micrograms per cubic meter of air”

So our “safe” levels are higher than levels that causes deaths by cardiac arrest. Fantastic.

Woodburners are the 100% legal way of killing people. We got rid of lead from petrol. We got rid of asbestos. We got rid of tobacco smoke in restaurants. So why can we not get rid of woodsmoke? 20 years from now we’ll look back and think that in 2010 everyone was absolutely100% stupid. Well I hope they find this blog in an archive. It seems that I’m the exception that proves the rule.
